Upgrade a OpenSearch service

In case you booked a service that is too small, it is not necessary to delete the service and rebuild it from scratch. There is an easy way to upgrade to a higher service plan.

Be aware that it is not possible:

• to upgrade from a replica service to a single service.
• to donwgrade to a smaller plan.

STACKIT Portal/CLI and Cloud Foundry cross-management is not possible

STACKIT Portal

1. Log in the portal.stackit.cloud and choose your Project.

2. Select your Service from the main menu.

3. Select the instance in the right main window.

   You can see now all the informations about your service instance.

4. Klick on the plan name at the bottom of the detail page.

5. Click Change to change to another plan.

6. Click Order fee-based.

   It takes a while until the update finishes and error messages might occur while the plan is being upgraded.

Cloud Foundry CLI

1. To use the Cloud Foundry CLI you first need to login into your STACKIT project endpoint. Read Interact with Cloud Foundry to get help logging in.

2. Retrieve a list of all available plans with the cf command.

   Parameter	Meaning	Example
   SERVICE_TYPE	The name of the service type.	appcloud-opensearch2

   cf marketplace -e [SERVICE_TYPE]

   Example:

   cf marketplace -e appcloud-opensearch2

   Result:

   broker: a9s-search

     opensearch-1.2.10-replica              3 Nodes, 1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 10 GB Disk                  paid

3. Update a OpenSearch service with the cf command:

   Parameter	Meaning	Example
   SERVICE_INSTANCE	The name of your service. You can freely choose anything.	my-cf-opensearch-service
   SERVICE_PLAN	The name of the service plan.	opensearch-1.2.10-replica

   cf update-service [SERVICE_INSTANCE] -p [SERVICE_PLAN]

   Example:

   cf update-service my-cf-opensearch-service -p opensearch-1.2.10-replica
