The Assume Role feature allows a STACKIT Service Agent to "assume your role" for a limited time and access your project in the STACKIT Portal. During this time, the Service Agent can perform all actions that are permitted for the role they requested, allowing them to understand your issue directly and assist you on the spot.

To assume a role, the STACKIT Service Agent needs permission from an Assume Role Responder in your organization. This permission is valid for 24 hours.

Prerequisite: Set Assume Role Responders for your organization or your project

The Assume Role Responder is the person who grants access to the project. You can compare this role to a janitor, who lets the plumber (= STACKIT service agent) in for repairs.

  1. Select the organization or the project in the Resource Manager.
  2. Select Access from the menu.
  3. Click Grant Access.
  4. Add one or more Subjects (= the persons who will be the new Assume Role Responders).
  5. Select the role Support > Support Assume Role Responder.
  6. Click Save.

These accounts now have the authorization to grant STACKIT service agents access to your STACKIT Portal as soon as a request is sent.

Remove an Assume Role Responder

  1. Select the organization or the project in the Resource Manager.
  2. Select Access from the menu.
  3. Select the person from the list.
  4. In the list of their assigned roles, click the next to the role support.assume-role-responder.
  5. Click Save.

Giving access to your project when requested

  1. After you have submitted a Support request, check your emails.
When the service agent processes your support ticket, you will receive an request email with a link to grant or deny access to your project in the STACKIT Portal.
  2. Click the link in the email.
The link forwards you to the STACKIT Portal with an information on the access request.
  3. Allow or deny access using the buttons displayed.
    • If you approve, then the Service Agent will assume the role for 24 hours. During this time they can handle your issues in the STACKIT Portal.
    • If you reject, the Service Agent will be denied access. This also means that you will need to find other ways of handling your Support request.

The access authorization expires automatically after 24 hours. You do not need to do revoke permissions manually.
