Create projects

To create a project, you need the resource-manager.project.create permission. This permission is included in the Owner role and several other roles.

  1. Open the Resource Manager page in the STACKIT Portal.

  2. Select Create project.

  3. Enter the project name. You can use the recommend structure patterns to name your project.

  4. Select the parent organization and folder in which to create the project.

  5. Select the project type.

    • Public: Standard type. Resources are accessible over the internet (subject to service-level configuration).
    • Network Area: Provides enhanced functionality, including internal, cross-project communication.

    Choose based on your needs. Public projects suit general use cases, while Network Area projects provide additional features for projects needing internal communication.

  6. Select a billing account.

  7. Provide a billing reference. [Optional]

  8. Click Create.

After you submit the creation request, the new project appears in your list with the state CREATING.

  • It may take a moment to appear.

  • While in the CREATING state, you can view progress in the Audit log.

  • Once the project is ready, its state changes to ACTIVE, and you can start using it.
