Delete projects

Deleting a project is an irreversible action. Once you start the deletion process, you cannot undo it. Deleting a project immediately starts the deletion of all cloud resources within it. This includes, for example, virtual machines, databases, and networking components.

Exercise caution when deleting a project. Ensure that you back up or migrate all necessary data before proceeding.

Prerequisites

To delete a project, you need the resource-manager.project.delete permission. This permission is included in the Owner role and several other roles.

Procedure

STACKIT Portal

1. Open the Resource Manager page in the STACKIT Portal.
2. Open the context menu of the project you want to delete.
3. Select Delete project.
4. Confirm the deletion by entering the exact project name.

   Enter the exact project name to enable the Delete button. Close the window to cancel.

5. Select Delete.

Project deletion log and state

When a project is in the DELETING state, you can view deletion progress in the Audit log. After initiating deletion, the project remains visible in your project list until all resources are fully deleted.
