Delete an instance

This page guides through the deletion process of STACKIT Servers in the STACKIT Portal.

Deleting an existing STACKIT Server instance

If a STACKIT server instance is no longer needed, it can be easily deleted. This page describes how this works and what to look out for.

Deletion of a root data carrier irretrievably deletes all data stored on it. Additional data carriers are not deleted (see confirmation of deletion process).

Data carrier management can be found in the Portal under Components → Server.

Here you can select the server to be deleted and select Delete via the function menu.

The server is deleted once the deletion process is confirmed.

With respect to snapshots and backups to the servers (to be deleted):

• All snapshots (if any) must have been deleted before deleting the root data carrier.
• All backups (if any) are retained when the root data carrier is deleted and must be deleted separately if necessary.
