Understand organizations and folders
Organization
Section titled “Organization”An organization is the top-level technical scope. It anchors all resource groups (folders) and execution domains (projects).
Organization lifecycle states
Section titled “Organization lifecycle states”The table below describes the lifecycle states of an organization, what each state means, and what triggers transitions.
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| CREATING | Provisioning has started. The organization becomes ACTIVE once the owner confirms the user account. If the user does not log in within 7 days, the invitation expires. |
| ACTIVE | The organization is fully usable. You can provision STACKIT services through its projects. |
| INACTIVE | The organization is temporarily restricted (for example, due to unpaid invoices). Existing services continue to run, but you cannot provision new services. |
| DELETING | Deletion has been triggered. All child projects and folders must reach their terminal states before the organization can be deleted. |
Folders
Section titled “Folders”In STACKIT, folders provide a structure for organizing projects within an organization. Folders do not directly contain cloud resources, they group multiple projects to support clearer and more efficient management and navigation.
STACKIT currently supports a single level of folder hierarchy.
