Understand projects

A project is a fundamental container for your cloud resources. It defines the scope for ownership, resource consumption, and access control. A project is associated with a customer account and has its own lifecycle, type, and quota settings. It also inherits labels or classifications from its parent organization.

A project moves through different states during its lifecycle. You can manage your project based on its current state.

StateDescriptionTypical Allowed Actions
CREATINGProject provisioning in progressView status

DELETINGDecommission in progressMonitor deletion
ERRORProvisioning or runtime issue encounteredInvestigate / retry / delete

Projects come in different types based on their network connectivity and purpose.

TypeDescription
PublicConnected to a publicly reachable network segment.
Network Area(If enabled) Additional project flavor for network isolation / orchestration.

More to STACKIT Network Area projects can be found in the Network Area documentation.

Quotas define the resource consumption limits for each project. These limits apply to IaaS and Cloud Foundry resources and do not currently cover all resources within a project. To learn more about quotas, please read the relevant IaaS documentation.

To see your project quotas, navigate to a project and select Information > Quotas in the side navigation bar.
