Red Hat update infrastructure

STACKIT Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) images come pre-configured with access to the Red Hat Update Infrastructure (RHUI). This setup enables instances to receive the latest package updates directly from Red Hat. STACKIT includes access to the Red Hat Update Infrastructure in the Red Hat Enterprise Linux software fees.

Manual updates

To update your system, run the following command once your RHEL instance is ready:

sudo dnf update

Automated updates

For automated, pre-scheduled system updates, enable the Server Update Management.

Update support and policies

Only RHEL images on a pay-as-you-go model may rely on RHUI for updates. If you’re using a custom or golden image, also called bring your own subscription (BYOS), you must register the system with Red Hat Subscription Manager (RHSM) or Satellite. Only then can the system receive updates.
