Create, setup and manage sending domains with MailOut

This how-to describes how-to create a sending domain and setup and authorized sender. This tasks are prerequisites for sending emails with MailOut.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- You have a STACKIT customer account: Create a customer account
- You have a STACKIT user account: Create a user account
- You have a STACKIT project: Create a project
Create, list, view and delete a sending domain

Section titled “Create a sending domain”- Open your project in the STACKIT Portal.
- Navigate to Messaging > MailOut.
- On the top bar, click on Create sending domain.
- On the popup, enter the desired domain and click on Create.
- After the sending domain has been created and it’s status has changed to Validating…, proceed with setting up the DNS records (see “Validate your sending domain”).
List all sending domains
Section titled “List all sending domains”- Open your project in the STACKIT Portal.
- Navigate to Messaging > MailOut.
- You see a list of all sending domains with their state.
View/edit a sending domain
Section titled “View/edit a sending domain”- Open your project in the STACKIT Portal.
- Navigate to Messaging > MailOut.
- Navigate to the sending domain you want to view/edit and click on the entry in the list.
Delete a sending domain
Section titled “Delete a sending domain”- Open your project in the STACKIT Portal.
- Navigate to Messaging > MailOut.
- Navigate to the sending domain you want to delete and click Delete on the three-dots-menu.
- On the new pane, enter the domain name and confirm with Delete.
Setup a sending domain
Section titled “Setup a sending domain”To setup a sending domain, you need to verify your DNS configuration and create an authorized sender. Read the Basics of MailOut, why this is necessary.
Validate your sending domain
Section titled “Validate your sending domain”-
In the sending domain overview, click on the sending domain you want to validate.

In the menu on the left, click the DNS Configuration entry.

On the new pane, you see a list of DNS records that must be transferred to the DNS service of your domain hoster.

After you added the DNS records to the DNS service, click Validate DNS records
Once validated correctly, you must be able to see a valid state for the DNS records in the overview of the sending domain. The overall state of your sending domain will turn from state “Validating…” to “Active”.
Setup and authorized sender
Section titled “Setup and authorized sender”To be able to send email messages using the SMTP endpoint, you need to create an authorized sender.

In the sending domain overview, click on the sending domain you want to create an Authorized Sender for.

In the menu on the left, click the Authorized Sender entry.

On the new pane on Create Authorized Sender.

In the modal dialog, enter a description for your Authorized Sender.

After you clicked Create, you will see all information for your Authorized Sender like username, password and SMTP endpoint.
