We want to give our customers the information they need to get the most from our STACKIT Archiving product. This FAQ section answers common questions. This helps you quickly find solutions and improve your experience. We encourage you to check these FAQ before contacting our support team, as you might find your answer here.

    Is a backup solution included?

    STACKIT Archiving is already a form of backup of data. The way we have built the architecture of the service does not allow for data to be lost. For example, we have WORM storage on both software and hardware level, and in addition, the object storage we use is in metro zone (in at least 2 availability zones at a time). The additional products used within our service (such as PostgreSQL or Secrets Manager) have their own backup.

    However, if you as a customer want to have an additional backup of the archived data (a duplicated archive), this would be your own responsibility and comes with additional costs. If you would like to discuss this topic with us and get advice, please reach out to Support.

    What are my key responsibilities as a customer regarding data security?

    When an Archive Service is created under a project, credentials are provided for accessing the URI. It is your responsibility to keep those credentials safe and make sure that only authorized personnel and tools have access to the archive.

    How do I change the retention period once it's already configured?

    The retention period can only be extended for the already archived data. Please reach out to Support to request such an update.

    How do I submit feedback or feature requests?
