STACKIT OpenSearch is a fully managed, scalable and secure search and analytics service. It provides developers and data teams with a powerful tool for indexing, searching and visualizing data in real time.
Core Features
Section titled “Core Features”STACKIT OpenSearch provides an enterprise-ready, flexible and reliable environment for search and analytics workloads.
Easy accessibility: Deploy OpenSearch instances within Cloud Foundry or access them externally via public IPs. Combine your service seamlessly with Kubernetes workloads or Virtual Machines for flexible architecture integration.
Security and isolation: Each instance runs on dedicated virtual machines, ensuring performance and tenant isolation. Instance-level authentication and Access Control Lists (ACLs) protect data and control network access.
Scalable service plans: Choose from t-shirt-sized service plans based on your workload needs. When you reach a plan’s resource limit, simply upgrade to a larger size—no migration required.
Custom plugin support: Extend OpenSearch functionality with custom plugins such as analysis-phonetic. Default plugins are pre-enabled and cannot be disabled.
For details on enabling custom plugins, see the Plugin configuration guide.
Service Dashboard: Manage your OpenSearch services through an intuitive web dashboard. Use it to trigger backups, restore data, restart instances, or recreate services.
Data access and provisioning: Book and manage OpenSearch services directly via the STACKIT Portal App or the Cloud Foundry UI/CLI.
Once deployed, services are reachable over the Internet, with optional ACLs to restrict access.
Backup and recovery: Automatic full backups run every 4 hours and are retained for 14 days. You can manually trigger additional backups or restore specific snapshots directly in the dashboard.
Monitoring and observability options: Integrate OpenSearch metrics and logs into your existing monitoring stack.
Automatic protection with Parachute: The Parachute mechanism ensures safe shutdown when disk usage exceeds a configurable threshold (80% by default) to prevent data loss.
Use cases
Section titled “Use cases”STACKIT OpenSearch is designed for search, analytics and observability use cases that require fast indexing and querying of large data volumes.
Application search: Power full-text search across products, content, or documents with sub-second response times.
Log and event analytics: Ingest and analyze logs, metrics and traces from your applications and infrastructure for real-time insights.
Monitoring and observability: Combine OpenSearch with dashboards and visualizations (such as OpenSearch Dashboards) to monitor system performance and detect anomalies.
Security analytics: Collect and correlate security event data to identify threats and track incidents across your environment.
Business intelligence and data exploration: Perform interactive analytics on semi-structured or time-series data to support data-driven decisions.
