Billing accounts

A Billing Account is your financial center at STACKIT, allowing you to manage invoices, payment methods, and costs across multiple projects. All costs from linked projects are consolidated into a single monthly invoice. Each Billing Account must be linked to a payment method that you can update at any time. You can assign multiple projects to one Billing Account to group related expenses.

Billing AccountManages how you pay for the services you use.

With your Billing Account, you can:

  • View your Billing Account details: See a summary of the account and which projects are linked to it.
  • Manage your payment method: Update the payment method for your Billing Account at any time.

Example use case

Imagine your company has two projects: a mobile app and an internal analytics tool. You can link both projects to the same Billing Account. This way, all costs appear on one invoice, and you only need to manage one payment method. This makes it easier to track and report cloud expenses for your organization.

Each project in your organization must be linked to a Billing Account. This connection ensures your cloud services and resources are billed correctly and without interruption. A project inherits its billing configuration, including the payment method, from the Billing Account it is assigned to. Currently, each project can be linked to only one Billing Account at a time.

Currently, each Customer Account supports only one Billing Account. In future updates, we will offer more flexibility by allowing you to:

  • Create and manage multiple Billing Accounts.
  • Assign different projects to different Billing Accounts.
  • Separate costs by department, team, or use case.
  • Reassign projects to different Billing Accounts.
  • Manage billing across departments or teams more easily.
