Manage your CDN

This guide explains how to manage your Content Delivery Network (CDN) distributions in the STACKIT Portal, including clearing the cache and adding custom domains.

Clear the cache

When the cache is purged, the CDN must fetch the content directly from your origin server to repopulate the cache. Verify you are clearing the correct distribution before proceeding.

You can clear the cache entirely from the distribution list, or choose to clear specific paths from the distribution details.

Clear the entire cache

To quickly clear the full cache for a distribution from the overview list:

1. Go to Networking > CDN.
2. Locate the distribution you want to manage.
3. In the distribution’s row, click the More options menu (three dots).
4. Select Clear cache. This immediately purges the entire cache for the distribution.

Clear cache granularly

To specify which paths to clear, or to clear the full cache from within the distribution details:

1. Go to Networking > CDN.
2. Click the name of your distribution to open its details.
3. In the sub-menu, click Overview.
4. Click Clear Cache.
5. Select whether to clear the Full cache or perform a Granular clear to purge only specific paths (recursively).
6. Confirm your selection.

Add a custom domain

You can serve content using your own domain name by linking it to your STACKIT distribution.

Before you add a custom domain in the STACKIT Portal, you must configure your DNS settings. Create a CNAME record at your DNS provider pointing to your distribution’s STACKIT-managed domain. Wait for the DNS changes to propagate globally before proceeding.

To add a custom domain to your distribution:

1. Go to Networking > CDN.
2. Click the name of your distribution.
3. In the sub-menu, click Custom Domains.
4. Click Create custom domain.
5. Enter the domain name for which you created the CNAME record.
6. Leave the Certificate type set to STACKIT managed.
7. Click Create.
