Basic concepts of STACKIT VPN
Last updated on
STACKIT VPN provides a secure and reliable way to connect your on-premise networks, other cloud environments or even different STACKIT Network Areas (SNA) to your STACKIT resources. It allows you to establish encrypted site-to-site connections, extending your network securely across the internet. STACKIT VPN offers high availability and flexible routing options to meet your specific network requirements.
Key features
Section titled “Key features”- Site-to-site connectivity: Securely connect your on-premise networks, other cloud providers, or different STACKIT SNAs to your STACKIT environment.
- High availability: Each HA VPN gateway consists of two active instances, ensuring continuous connectivity in case of failure. This Active-Active setup provides automatic failover and minimal disruption.
- BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) Routing: Dynamically exchange routing information between your network and STACKIT, simplifying network management and improving scalability.
- Multiple connections per gateway: A single VPN gateway can support multiple connections to different remote networks, reducing the number of gateways required and simplifying management.
- Encryption: Industry-standard encryption protocols ensure the confidentiality and integrity of your data in transit.
- User-friendly management: Manage and monitor VPN instances via the STACKIT Portal, STACKIT API or through the STACKIT Terraform Provider, STACKIT CLI and STACKIT SDK.
Use cases
Section titled “Use cases”- Hybrid cloud connectivity: Securely connect your on-premise data centers to your STACKIT Cloud resources, enabling a hybrid cloud architecture.
- Multi-cloud connectivity: Connect multiple cloud environments securely through VPN tunnels, enabling a unified and secure multi-cloud strategy.
- Multi-office integration: Use STACKIT VPN to securely connect multiple global office locations to the STACKIT Cloud. This setup supports safe, cross-location data exchange, enabling efficient communication across your international operations.
- Partner network integration: Facilitate secure communication and data exchange between your organization and external partners by establishing VPN connections to their networks.
- Secure cloud migration: During cloud migration, securely transfer data and applications from on-premise environments to STACKIT Cloud, ensuring data integrity and privacy throughout the process.
- Data privacy compliance: Ensure that sensitive data is securely transmitted over public networks, meeting stringent data privacy regulations.
