Changing VPN service plans
Last updated on
You can adjust the service plan of your STACKIT VPN gateway to meet your changing network requirements. While you can upgrade an active-active VPN gateway at any time, downgrading is currently not possible.
Upgrade your plan
Section titled “Upgrade your plan”You can upgrade your active-active VPN gateway plan whenever you need more performance or resources. There are no specific prerequisites for this action.
- Log in to the STACKIT Portal.
- Navigate to your project and select VPN.
- Select the VPN gateway you want to modify.
- Click Edit plan.
- Select your new plan and click Save changes.
Downgrade your plan
Section titled “Downgrade your plan”Currently, the STACKIT VPN doesn’t support direct downgrades for VPN gateway plans. If you need to switch to a smaller plan, follow these steps:
- Delete the existing gateway: Ensure you’ve noted your configuration details first.
- Create a new gateway: Select the smaller plan size during the creation process.
Note: Deleting a VPN gateway results in temporary downtime for your VPN connections. Plan this action during a maintenance window to minimize impact. Additionally, the system assigns new resources during recreation, which results in new public IP addresses. Ensure you update any external firewall rules or peer configurations that reference the old IP addresses.
