What is BGP and why is it important?
Section titled “What is BGP and why is it important?”The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is a widely used routing protocol that is used to exchange routing and reachability information between different networks, especially on the Internet. STACKIT VPN supports BGP routing for dynamic route propagation between your on-premise network and your STACKIT Network Area (SNA) via your STACKIT VPN gateway. Using BGP simplifies network management by automatically learning and adapting to network changes, eliminating the need for manual route table updates.
Advantages of using BGP in STACKIT VPN
Section titled “Advantages of using BGP in STACKIT VPN”- Dynamic Routing: Automatically learns and adapts to network changes, reducing administrative overhead.
- High Availability: Using BGP helps to automatically reroute traffic in case of link failures, ensuring network resilience. Leverages the Active-Active nature of STACKIT VPN gateways.
- Scalability: Simplifies routing configuration for complex and growing networks.
