STACKIT DNS service is using Anycast with worldwide coverage to be a highly available and stable service.

STACKIT DNS service includes DDoS-protection.

Scalability

The service is offered in three t-shirt sizes. When the limit of a plan is reached, it will upgrade to the next bigger plan.

Zones

STACKIT DNS supports different zone types:

• Forward zones
• Reverse zones
• Secondary zones

Records

STACKIT DNS supports the following record types:

Common Record Types	A	AAAA	CNAME	SOA	NS	MX	TXT	SRV	PTR	HINFO	HTTPS
Special Record Types	ALIAS	CAA	DNAME	TLSA	URI	CERT	LOC	NAPTR	SSHFP	SVCB	CSYNC
DNSSEC Record Types*	DNSKEY	DS

*DNSSEC zone signing is currently not available.

A custom record type allows for the creation of not yet natively supported record types.

Service Plans

A Zone always starts with the smallest plan and scales with the amount of DNS records in it.

Backup and Recovery

DNS Zone data is automatically backed up on a regular schedule set by STACKIT. You are able to manually save and restore your zone data through the DNS API or the Portal as well.

API

The STACKIT DNS API provides functionality to Create, Update, Delete and Restore DNS Zones and Resource Record Sets. A documentation to the API can be found here: STACKIT DNS API Documentation.

All features are conveniently available through the STACKIT Portal as well. There is an overview of the Zones and Record Sets in the DNS Service view:

It is possible to edit the Zones as well as Records in the Record Sets in their respective detail view:
